The reclaimed cherry was acquired from a customer with a beautiful story. They had a cherry tree with 2 distinct main artery branches that joined together and connected at the trunk. Although the tree was in a shady spot, the tree thrived for years (cherry trees typically need full sun). One day the family had sad news, their grandfather passed away and something very strange happened. Not long after loosing their grandfather, ONE of the main branches of the cherry tree also died, while the other branch continued to thrive despite the first main artery branch of the tree dying. Years later, the owners grandmother passed away, and soon they noticed the second branch was no longer thriving and eventually died. The customer felt like this cherry tree was interlinked with so many memories of their grandparents it broke their heart to remove the dead tree and stump from their yard. These trees just could not to go to the landfill or the woodchip pile, there was just too much sentimental value and memories associated them. They wanted the tree to live on, regenerated to a new life, they just didn’t know how.
Then they met me, and realized these once beautiful, thriving cherry trees could live on. When the customer told me the story and explained the meaning of these important trees, I knew I had to build legacy items, something that would be handed down fron generation to generation. This vase is the one of the items in the “Legacy Collection”, all the items created this particular reclaimed cherry tree will be included in the collection.
